With Roulette the player has no control in the selection of the winning number. The spinning wheel and the ball release are both controlled by the dealer. Players attempt to guess what the winning number will be using methods ranging from guessing to using one of many systems thought to improve their chances. The player involvement in Roulette is in the betting. There are a variety of ways to wager in Roulette. Here are the wagers:
Inside bets (these are made on the numbers 1 to 36, 0 and 00 on the table layout):
One number bets - these pay 35 to 1 and is a bet on one of the 37 or 38 numbers on the layout (including 0 and 00).
Two number bets - these pay 17 to 1 and is a bet on any two adjacent numbers on the table layout (this bet can be made 62 different ways).
Three number bets - these pay 11 to 1 and is a bet on groups of three numbers on the table layout (this bet can be made 15 different ways).
Four number bets - these pay 8 to 1 and is a bet on a square of four numbers on the table layout (this bet can be made 22 different ways).
Five number bet - this pays 6 to 1 and is a bet on 00, 0, 1, 2 or 3 to win (this bet can only be made one way).
Six number bets - these pay 5 to 1 and is a bet on two rows of three numbers on the table layout (this bet can be made 11 different ways).
Outside bets (those made on the area bordering the numbers layout):
Dozens bets - pay 2 to 1 and is a bet on the numbers 1 to 12, 13 to 24 or 25 to 36 (this bet can be made 3 different ways).
Odd or Even bets - pay even money and is a bet on the winning number (1 to 36) being even or odd, if 0 or 00 wins you lose (this bet can be made 2 different ways).
Red or Black bets pay even money and is a bet that the winning number will be red or black, 0 and 00 are green, (this bet can be made 2 different ways).
Column Bets - pay 2 to 1 and is a bet on an entire column of 12 numbers on the table layout (this bet can be made 3 different ways).
